Philippe Kruchten and the games

Friday june 8th, Philippe Kruchten did 2 presentations in the Grenoble’s LIG. First one was about “games” (social science ones) played in software engineering : http://www.liglab.fr/spip.php?article1169

It was not about innovation games (http://innovationgames.com)
neither about serious games (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serious_game)
but rather about « ritualisic transactions or behavior patterns between individual that indicate hidden feelings or emotions…”.

So it was all about cognitive bias (“pattern of deviation in judgment that occurs in particular situations, leading to perceptual distortion, inaccurate judgment, illogical interpretation, or what is broadly called”). The list of bias mentioned is too long to be detailed here, but they have a definitive impact in software engineering.

One of them, famous in the testing community, is this awareness tests
Quite scary for a tester to be a victim of inattentional blindness !
